Berklee Dance Course Poster 2007 April
(Download) I organized couple dancing and hip hop courses for Berklee, and taught the couple dancing (ballroom & Latin-American) for the students, staff and faculty getting more than 150 people involved in the first two weeks.
"I am a singer/songwriter, dancer/instructor/choreographer and philologist in Aesthetics from Budapest, Hungary.
After finishing my secondary music school as a singing and piano major I was performing in Hungary through years. I became a finalist in the Hungarian national singing competition called “Megastar” (Hungarian American Idol), and some other popular contests in Hungary. Besides many others I also performed in the “Moulin Rouge”, and worked together with many popular artists in Hungary and all around Europe. In 2006 I was admitted to Berklee College of Music, receiving a high scholarship for singing, where I am currently focusing on performing, songwriting, music technology and working on my new album. I mostly sing and play pop, R&B, soul and Latin-American music, but I also like jazz, funk and rock. I am member of the Latin- and the Songwriting Club and I am also usually part of the jam sessions in my favourtite styles at Berklee.
Besides my singing career I am also a professional dancer. I started my dancing career in 1997, and quickly became a competitive dancer in both Standard and Latin-American couple-style dancing, winning or advancing to the finals of every local and national competition I entered. (Capital Standard Championship first place, Professional Latin Championship second place).
In 2004, I graduated from the Hungarian Dance Academy as a ballroom dance instructor. Two years later, I earned my second Master’s degree at the Hungarian Eotvos Lorand University in Aesthetics of Performing Arts.
I became a private and group dance instructor in Hungary where I taught students of different age groups and skill levels producing several successes for my private students and formation groups. I also coached a Hungarian National Champion.
Since August 2006 I have taught at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio, Boston, Northeastern University, Mass College, Fisher College and some others while enhancing my reputation as a competitive dancer, dance instructor and performer. I am also the organizer, supervisor and dance instructor of the Ballroom, Latin-American and Hip-hop dance courses at Berklee College of Music."
"My career goal is to combine my Hungarian and American influences, creating a unique and personal music and dance style; writing and recording my own songs, and performing them as a singer, musician and dancer throughout Europe and in the USA.”
“My life is about finding perfect harmony in music. Music provides me the inspiration to know and express myself through singing and dancing. To create music and show the emotions of the music together with dance is the essence of beauty. ”

Q:Tell us about your act, music style, and brief history, including band members and what instruments they play. A: I mostly sing pop, R&B, soul music. I really like the Latin music, not just because the musical style of it, but also because I am a professional ballroom dancer and instructor, so my life is definitely about the latin style music too. But I also like funk, jazz and rock music, depending on who I listen to, or which song I perform. Right now I do not have own band, I perform in different places with different band members at Berklee and outside of Berklee.
Q:What have been some important gigs or venues you've played? A: I have had important gigs in my native country, Hungary, and in America too. Right now I would say I have had more in Hungary, since I lived there for 25 years, and I came to the U.S. one and a half year ago. To mention the most important ones, I performed in Hungary in the Moulin Rouge, Soho London Pub, Club Seven, I was a finalist in the Hungarian version of American Idol called "Megastar", also a finalist in another popular singing competition called "Star factory", sang together with many famous artist like Janos Berkes, Daniel Benko, Seufert Helmut, etc. In the U.S. besides my Berklee-related shows I mostly perform in the different Fred Astaire shows, parties, championships, which are the dancing events of the Fred Astaire Franchised Dance Studio System all around the U.S. I am so happy that people in the dancing field really appreciate my singing and interested in my shows. Right now those events next to my studies, teaching and professional dance performances keeps me really busy.
Q:What are the names and release dates of your previous recordings? A: I recorded my new demo called "Thoughts & dreams" in September-October last year. My plan was to record more songs and mostly own songs, but in the end I had to change my mind because of some technical issues, and also because of some upcoming deadlines, so basically I am still working on finishing the album. I did not release it, because it is not ready.
Q:What are you working on now? A: Being able to experience all the advantages and disadvantages of my Hungarian education I feel I had a chance at Berklee to realize what I should work on. Besides working on my singing skills, being an internationaI student I am concentrating on my pronounciation, lyric writing, creating my own style in songwriting and also my piano skills, 'cause my education was classical based, so playing from leadsheets is still much harder for me than reading the notation.
Q:What kind of people or opportunities are you hoping to find on Berkleemusic? A: I would like to play music and cowrite songs with musicians from Berklee and also outside of Berklee who are interested in the same style of music like me.
It is also a great experience for me to meet musicians being effected and creating different kind of music, sometimes they could be even more inspiring for me.
