About 10 years ago, while playing guitar in punk/grunge influenced rock bands, Copelinn stumbled upon something-- a used Yamaha RX-21. His music then reflected his influences: Marilyn Manson, Atari Teenage Riot, NIN, Sonic Youth. It was lo-fi, imperfect and harsh. "I'd plug in the RX-21 and just record to a cheap four-track. The sound quality was horrible but the songs were reflective of what I was listening to. The sheer level of distortion applied to a broken snare pattern was amazing in retrospect." That was until he discovered artists like BT, Moby, William Orbit, Brian Eno and, The Cure -- things changed. His musical creation took on a deeper level. Given the proliferation of the internet at that point, The New Digital was born. Street credibility followed, as well as, airplay throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. "Everything started out slow, like it would for any band or artist trying to move people. You really can't force people to listen I suppose, but then airplay started coming back and a slew of great reviews in print and online. My sites started getting slammed by people and everything just started to fall into place. I even remember getting an email from a huge radio station in Australia to ask my permission to play a track. Totally blew me away."

General News
NEWS from NDS:
Two new albums in the production phase, with a live show to follow.
I got engaged!
The first two NDS albums are available on I-Tunes.com, be sure to have a listen.
I have been attending Berklee College of Music and have completed programs in: Audio Production and Guitar Studies.
NDS made the cut in 2005 (sorry this is about a year late) as a band to watch from Unsigned Music Magazine.
You can find NDS listed on the Moby UBL website, and much to my shock, there is even and embedded link on the Nine Inch Nails UBL site as well.
The New Digital Sound. org has been steadily growing. Last month alone, the site received about 112,000 visitors.
That's it for now.

Past reviews of The New Digital Sound.
Here are some of the better reviews that NDs has recieved: "DJ Copelinn has created an album that will leave a lasting impression, The New Digital Sound. Successfully creating 13 energizing tracks, The New Digital Sound takes you on a journey that will cause many different emotions to arise. Copelinn has created his own style and sound that puts him in a category in which not too many other musicians can match. Using different elements from piano notes, to drum beats, to guitar chords, to bass drops, songs such as The Meaning and Minimal make you wanting more as the music fades and the track ends. All in all, The New Digital Sound is without a doubt a record that is worth checking out. Whether you are a fan of rock, pop, or techno, The New Digital Sound has something that everyone can connect with, and will make a very enjoyable listening experience."
Shane - ID Musik.com
"The age of The New Digital Sound has arrived. The debut disc serves up textures that might put listeners in the mind of Nine Inch Nails, Tool, or the like. The music therein contains voice samples describing mass murder, sexual perversion and terminal sickness amidst the dark, eerie, digitally synthesized soundscapes. There are, however, some energizing beats and grooves to be found on the album's thirteen tracks. ?You" delivers a funky, drum machine beat beneath simple, melancholy piano chords and melodies, and "Minimal" conveys multi-layered, repeating keyboard lines creating a spooky, celestial effect. DeeJay Copelinn says, "My hope is to turn N.D.S. into a live show as well." That is one show that I would love to see."
Matt Worfe - Syndicated Writer
"The New Digital Sound, The New Digital Sound Grade: A- On the enclosed press information for The New Digital Sound 's self-titled album, we are instructed to file this album under the likes of : ambient and abstract. Boy, were they not kidding. I don't even think those terms fit the bill here. While a few tracks like "You" are obviously electronic, some like the album's opener "The Meaning" are like nothing I've ever heard before. And that's not necessarily a bad thing, just means its something you have to get used to. DJ Copelinn of The New Digital Sound unleashes his entire creative process on this album, leaving not a whole lot left to be discovered or desired. For those looking for a new album of electronic goodness to clutch tightly to their chests. The New Digital Sound is without a doubt not an album for everyone, but is an album for many that are looking for something new and thought-provoking."
C.E. Pelc - FM Sound.net
"Interesting album. I've included a track on an upcoming edition of my radio show "Ultima Thule". Check it out 10:30-midnight every Sunday night."
Ambient Music Guide - 102.5 MBFS-FM (Syndey, Australia)
It's usually MusicEmissions policy to not review any CD's that come to us in CDR format but something told me to check out DJ Copelinn's project called The New Digital Sound. Copelinn is in the category of IDM, along the lines of Autechre and other Warp artists. No really, this is a valid comparison and if you are a label looking for an electronica artist along the lines of Sybarite, you should get in touch with The New Digital Sound. Some of the tracks are darker than others but some actually have a shiny feel to them. The 13 tracks are diverse enough that you don't get bored. An interesting track here is "Devoid of Emotion" where a news sample talking about a "bizarre murder" where Copelinn keeps it repeating for over 1 minute. The music is well produced and most likely recorded straight from Copelinn's computer. There are no glitches that I can hear. So much good music like this goes unnoticed amongst all the rest.
